New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for projects related to light houses under the Global Residential Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India) in six cities of six states. In a ceremony organized through video conference, Modi also announced the winners under the Cheap and Sustainable Residential Catalyst (ASHA-India).
He also distributed annual awards for excellence in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). On this occasion, apart from Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, the Governors and CMs of Tripura, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh were present. On this occasion, PM Modi launched a course on innovative construction technology called 'Navaritih' and also released a collection of 54 innovative residential construction technologies.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, projects related to light houses are the first time in the country to showcase such a massive new-age alternative global technology, materials and processes in the construction sector. They are being constructed under GHTC-India. These light houses are being constructed in Indore, Rajkot, Chennai, Ranchi, Agartala and Lucknow. One thousand such houses are to be constructed everywhere. This construction work is likely to be completed within a year.
