New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi had recently met with stalwarts from the Sikh community at his home in Delhi ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections. In this conversation, PM Modi spoke many things, in which he also mentioned from the Emergency to Kartarpur Sahib. PM Modi said that India was not born in 1947. PM Modi said that our gurus have suffered a lot, we had to suffer so much during the Emergency. I was underground at that time. I used to live in Sikh disguise to hide, I used to wear a turban. '

Reiterating his remarks ahead of the Punjab elections, Modi said, "The Congress failed to ensure that the Sikh shrine Kartarpur Sahib remained in India during the partition of 1947. Kartarpur Sahib is in Pakistan and is about six km from Punjab. PM Modi said, "They (Congress) could not reach an agreement to bring Kartarpur to India, six km away.''

PM Modi said that I started the dialogue through a diplomatic channel. When I lived in Punjab, I used to watch Kartarpur Sahib using binoculars. Then I thought we had to do something. PM Modi further said, "It was such a sacred work, which we could do with the blessings of the gurus. What we did in such a short time would not have been possible without devotion.''
