Army Chief briefs PM Modi over army efforts against coronavirus

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi is holding continuous meetings amid the ongoing corona epidemic in the country. He today held a meeting with Army Chief General MM Narwane and enquired about the army's preparedness and cooperation in the fight against the corona epidemic.  PM Modi and the Army Chief spoke on various initiatives being taken by the Army during this period.

Army Chief MM Narwane told PM Modi that army medical staff is being provided to various state governments. He also told PM Modi that the Army is setting up temporary hospitals in different parts of the country. Official news agency ANI quoted the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) as saying in this regard. Army Chief Narwane told PM Modi that the Army is opening its hospitals for civilians wherever possible. He also told PM Modi that citizens can contact army hospitals nearest to them. Army Chief Narwane told PM Modi that the Army is assisting oxygen tankers and vehicles. It requires special skills to manage.

PM Modi had earlier also held a meeting with CDS Bipin Rawat, Air Force Chief RKS Bhadauria and inspected the preparations. These days, army aircraft are inviting oxygen tankers, oxygen generators and other medical equipment seis.
