Kolkata: PM Narendra Modi is arriving in the state capital Kolkata on his two-day visit today amid heavy protests by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Civil Register (NRC). In the evening, PM Modi is scheduled to meet the state CM Mamta Banerjee alone inside the Raj Bhavan.
At the same time, in view of PM Modi's visit, a large number of students have decided to protest. This visit of PM Modi is taking place at a time when the Central Government has implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act and Mamata is strongly opposing it. According to the high-ranking official, according to the scheduled time, there will be a meeting between the two leaders after the arrival of PM Modi at around 4 pm on Saturday.
However, the official did not disclose the agenda of the meeting. Section 144 has been imposed in the vicinity of Raj Bhavan in view of the students' performance. Large-scale security forces have been deployed around the Raj Bhavan and the airport. If PM Modi goes to Raj Bhavan by road, then the entire road from the airport to Raj Bhavan has been barricaded. Security personnel have been deployed all over the road.
