Haridwar: The mortal remains of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother Hiraben were immersed in the River Ganga on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Pankaj Modi arrived in Haridwar with his mother's ashes. All this happened in such a normal way that even many media organizations could not get the information about it. Pankaj Modi offered prayers in Haridwar with simplicity and then his mother's ashes were immersed in the Ganga. During this time, no special arrangements were made there, nor was there a gathering of people. However, a video of Pankaj Modi performing puja at Haridwar Ghat is going viral on social media. It may have been made by a family member.

PM Modi's mother Hiraba passed away on December 30 at 3.30 am. Her last rites were performed at 9:30 am. Her son Narendra Modi lit the pyre. The PM was present during the entire funeral procession. He had shouldered the mother's body. During the yatra, PM Modi was seen sitting near the mother's body in the vehicle all the time. PM Modi's mother's funeral was also done with great simplicity. No cabinet minister, no BJP MLA or leader, and only family members attended his funeral. The same appeal was made by the Modi family that no person should postpone his work and complete his pre-scheduled programs. This would be a true tribute to Hiraba. PM Modi himself also started development works worth 7600 crores in Bengal after lighting his mother and flagged off the state's first Vande Bharat train. Seeing the simplicity of the program and the conscientiousness of PM Modi, many leaders of the opposition parties also praised the Prime Minister.

Hiraben Modi was admitted to UN Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad late on Tuesday night after she complained of breathlessness. After receiving the news of his mother's illness, PM Modi reached Ahmedabad on Wednesday to see her. During this, PM Modi had enquired about the mother's health in the hospital and also spoke with the doctors about the mother's health. After spending about one and a half hours in the hospital, the PM left Gujarat for Delhi.
