New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to freedom fighters Lokmanya Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad on the occasion of their birth anniversaries on Saturday, July 23.

PM also released a clip of  Mann Ki Baat from a few years back, in which he discussed Lokmanya Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad. "I bow to two great sons of Maa Bharti, Lokmanya Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad on their birth anniversary," the Prime Minister said in multiple tweets. These two stalwarts exemplify bravery and patriotism. Sharing what I said about them a couple years ago during MannKiBaat."

PM Modi can be heard saying in the film that many great people have given their lives to the nation....one such figure was Lokmanya Tilak, who left permanent traces in the hearts of Indians.  He also uploaded photos from his visits to Mumbai, where he visited the Lokmanya Seva Sangh, which has a close relationship with Lokmanya Tilak.

"The large-scale Ganesh Utsav, which inspired a sense of cultural consciousness among the people, is one of Lokmanya Tilak's immortal legacy." During one of my visits to Mumbai, I went to the Lokmanya Seva Sangh, which has a close relationship with Lokmanya Tilak."

In 1856, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born, and in 1906, Chandra Shekhar Azad. During the British government, Tilak is well known for seeking Swaraj, or national self-rule. He also boldly took over the Britishers with his writing and launched two weekly newspapers, 'Kesari' and 'Mahratta.'
Chandrashekhar Azad was inspired to fight for his country at a young age, and he was only 15 when he joined the Non-Cooperation Movement. He is well-known for his catchphrase, "We will face the bullets of enemies... and were free and we will remain free.", it reads.
