BANGALORE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold part 2 of the Mega Roadshow in Bangalore on Sunday, May 7, barely three days before the Karnataka Assembly elections. Due to the NEET entrance exam, the roadshow will take a shorter route today.

The Kempegowda statue at Thippasandra and Trinity Circle in Bangalore are part of a 10-km route where Prime Minister Modi will hold a roadshow on Sunday in Karnataka, a state that is close to voting.

The BJP on Friday changed Modi's two-day roadshow in Bangalore by arranging the lengthy event on Saturday and a shorter one on May 7. This was done in consideration of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Originally planned to last eight hours on Saturday alone, the saffron party was broken into two halves on Saturday and Sunday to minimise disruption to the general public.

The Bangalore traffic police has advised commuters and drivers to avoid the following roads today from 8 am to 12 pm:

Circle at Raj Bhavan Road and Mekhri

Ramanamaharshi Road, Old Airport Road, and T Chowdaiah Road

BEML Junction Suranjandas Road MG Road Jagadeeshnagar Cross JB Nagar Main Road

100 ft Road Indiranagar, Cauvery School, New Thippasandra Road, and 80 ft Road Indiranagar

Road Sawmy Vivekananda

Trinity Junction Metro Station in Halasuru

PM Modi' s Saturday Roadshow: Highlights

On Saturday, it took almost three hours to complete the 26 km tour from the Someshwar Bhavan RBI Ground in Bangalore South to the Sankey Tank in Malleshwaram. A dozen Assembly segments were visited during Modi's roadshow as it moved through areas of south and central Bengaluru. Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya and Bangalore Central MP P C Mohan were in the Prime Minister's company.

Modi addressed the crowd as he stood atop the specially made vehicle. Many people could be heard chanting "Modi, Modi," "Jai Bajarangbali," and "Bharat Mata ki Jai," as well as cheering loudly in what appeared to be a "festive atmosphere" in several locations. As his cavalcade gently moved along the stretch while being accompanied by drum beats, several people showered the area in flower petals.

In return, the Prime Minister showered the throng with the flower petals that had accumulated atop the car. To ensure the roadshow runs successfully, extensive preparations had been made along the stretch, including the construction of barricades. There was tight security in place. Tens of thousands of people had congregated alongside the route, according to state BJP sources.

BJP flags could be seen on either side of the road, and thousands of party members and supporters were also sporting saffron shawls and caps, decorating the entire area. The saffron flag, which resembled the "Bhagwa flag" and included Lord Hanuman's face, was seen flying in a number of locations. Additionally, there were cultural teams stationed at various locations along the road to welcome Modi. Women "Pourakarmikas" (civil servants) were observed congregating at a location to welcome Modi.

The voting for the Karnataka election of 2023 will take place on May 10 (Wednesday), and the results will be tallied on May 13 (Saturday).
