LAHORE: Following the Lahore High Court's instructions, PML-Hamza N's Shahbaz was sworn in as Punjab's 21st Chief Minister on Saturday. On the Lahore High Court orders, he was sworn in by National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, as the CM-elect had requested the high court's intervention in the matter.

CM Hamza Shahbaz vowed to bring help to the people soon after taking the oath. After the oath, Hamza told journalists that they only have a short time to address many of the issues left by the previous administration.

He described the government as a coalition, adding that decisions will be made in consultation with allies. Punjab is the country's largest province, and it faces several issues, he said, adding that they intended to help the people.

Despite being elected with a strong majority of 197 votes in the Punjab Assembly on April 16, Hamza moved the LHC for the third time on Friday since his oath-taking ceremony was postponed for many reasons. Furthermore, just hours before the inauguration, Punjab Governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema "rejected" Usman Buzdar's resignation, claiming that constitutional prerequisites had not been met.

Hamza arrived at the Governor House in his own car, escorted by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz.
