NEW DELHI: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressing the post-Budget webinar on Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman (VIKAS) scheme said small artisans play a key role in the production of local crafts and the development of the country. In order to assist craftsmen who live in rural places and integrate them into the value chain, he emphasised the importance of operating in mission mode.

He added that in order to assist craftsmen who live in distant locations, we must operate in mission mode. He claimed that the Viswakarma Yojana would offer holistic institutional assistance, easy loans, and brand marketing to artists. "Our goal is to develop today's artisans into successful entrepreneurs. For this reason, it is crucial that their business model be stable, he said. He urged all parties to include small craftspeople in their value chains.

The PM VIKAS programme aims to help artisans develop their skills, ensure easy access to loans, and aid in brand promotion so that their goods may be sold rapidly. In addition, it aims to support small business owners and artists.
The Prime Minister noted that millions of people have received training via the Skill India Mission and stated that small craftsmen are crucial to the creation of regional crafts and the growth of the nation.

The speech was one of a total of 12 post-Budget webinars that the government organised in order to collect thoughts and ideas for the successful execution of the objectives outlined in the Union Budget.
