Toxic gas leak in scrap godown, dozens of people including SDM-CO admitted

Dehradun: A gas cylinder kept in a scrap godown leaked in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district. Many persons fell unconscious after inhaling the poisonous gas. The case is of Rudrapur transit camp. SSP, SDM, CO, SDRF, Fire Brigade and police teams reached the spot as soon as the news was received. Those people also inhaled the gas. After the incident, there was a stir in the area.

According to the news received, so far 32 people have fainted due to poisonous gas. All the persons are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. 10 out of 32 people are admitted to ICU. All persons have been given oxygen support. It is being said that on Tuesday morning, there was a leak from the gas cylinder kept in the scrap godown in Azad Nagar/Raja Colony of Transit Camp. The persons came to know about the gas leak when a strong foul smell made them uncomfortable breathing. In a moment, the gas spread rapidly. One by one, many persons fell unconscious after being hit by the gas.

SDRF personnel, including Kichcha SDM Kaustubh Mishra, CO Ashish Bhardwaj, his gunner Bhuvan Chandra, and driver Ganesh Satyal, have also been affected by this poisonous gas. Rudrapur SDM Lalit Narayan Mishra said that at the moment, it is not known which gas was in the cylinder. The help of chemists is being taken to find out.
