Dehradun: Corona epidemic has created a terrible situation in the country. During the protest against the medium of final semester examination at Garhwal University, the students of Birla campus, the union officer, were picked up from the protest site by the police on Tuesday morning, and were brought to the police station. On Monday, Prof. Arun Bahuguna, the Chief Controller of Vishwa Vidyalaya, tried a lot to convince the students, but the students did not agree.

The Chief Controller Prof. Bahuguna said in his statement that the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Annapurna Nautiyal has given time to meet student representatives on Tuesday. Under the leadership of Students Union President Ankit Rawat and Vice President Anmol Bhandari, the students sat on a protest at the second gate of the administrative building of Garhwal University. Explaining further, he said, the students' union officials have been wandering to talk to the vice-chancellor for the last four months, but the vice-chancellor is not giving them time to meet.

He further said that on one hand, cases of COVID-19 infection are continuously increasing. The university is putting the lives of students and local residents at risk by conducting exams. He said that given the danger during the COVID-19 transition period, the landlords would not allow the students to enter their rooms. In addition, he demanded to postpone the examination of the final semester and to pass it on the basis of assignment and internal assessment. Sudhanshu Thapliyal, Puneet Agrawal, Ayush Kandari, Deepak Bisht, Rajat Rawat, Lucky Bisht, and Vikas Rawat sat in the protest. The same will now be decided by the administration soon.
