Police of the Bay Area have reacted to the reports of looting in the shopping mall on Monday night. On this matter, the Richmond Police Department tweeted that, 'Officers controlled the scene at Hilltop Mall as vandals and robbers destroyed property.

The department said that false information about a shooting was spread by an unknown source that involved an officer. The department wrote, "Our objective is to provide accurate information. Sometime later, the Fairfield Police Department launched the Solano Mall and Looting was reported at Gateway Boulevard. Police advised residents to stay at home."
