On Monday, two people were caught in Siliguri's Old Matigara Road with 600 grammes of brown sugar valued Rs 1 crore 10 lakh (1,10,00000). They were apprehended by a Special Operations Group (SOG) joint police unit in Siliguri. "After following the procedures outlined in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 600g of Brown Sugar in two plastic bags (300g each) was discovered from the accused's possession," said CP Gaurav Sharma of the Old Matigara Road.

"The suspects Md Based and Sk Abbu Kasem were apprehended by the SOG led by the Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SPC) and Matigara Police Station after acting on a specific tip," he added. The investigation into the charges against the accused has begun at Matigara Police Station, and they will be brought before the Ld court on Tuesday.
