Lucknow: A constable posted in Shahjahanpur district has been suspended for attempting to kidnap a child. Mohammad Javed, a resident of Mohalla Jalal Nagar in Thana Sadar Bazar, said on Thursday that his four-year-old son was playing outside the house on January 3 when Mukesh Kumar, a policeman passing by, tried to pick up the child but the locals snatched the child from the cop.
Javed said the entire incident was recorded on camera CCTV. A complaint was then lodged against the policeman at Sadar Bazar police station. Meanwhile, the video of the incident is going viral on social media where the cop is seen carrying the child. Superintendent of Police (Nagar) Sanjay Kumar said on Thursday that the video of the incident has gone viral and constable Mukesh Kumar has since been suspended.
The investigation in the case has been handed over to Police Area Officer (Nagar) Shravan Kumar. Shravan Kumar has said that the cop has not kidnapped the child but he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and medical tests have also confirmed drinking alcohol. However the child's father Javed said he was not satisfied with the suspension action taken by the police. He is filing a report against the cop and demanding an inquiry into the entire matter.
