Bengaluru: The Congress party, which is in a government-formed party in Karnataka with the JDS, has once again suffered a major setback. Two of its MLAs have resigned from the party. On Monday, MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi and Anand Singh resigned as party MLAs. Ramesh Jarkiholi was earlier a Minister in the State Government. But in the second extension, he was removed from the post.

On the turmoil in the Congress, the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said that many more MLAs will leave the party in the Congress. If that happens, the already wobbled Karnataka coalition government could collapse at any time. Displeased with the state government's decision to sell 3,667 acres of land to JSW Steel Limited, Karnataka Congress MLA Anand Singh resigned from Vijayanagar Assembly seat in the north western Ballari district of the state on Monday.

"I am unhappy with the decision of the coalition government to sell land to Jindal Steel Firm," he told the press. So, I resigned from the State Assembly Speaker. Ramesh Kumar's house has gone and handed it over to him. In Karnataka, no party had won a majority, which led to the alliance of the Congress and the JDS.
