India's SD Prajwal Dev stormed into the men's singles pre-quarterfinals of the ITF Mysuru Open with a convincing win over compatriot S Abhinav Sanjeev here on Wednesday. Prajwal defeated Sanjeev in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. Prajwal was supposed to take on experienced Indian player and 5th seed Ramkumar Ramanathan, but he had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. Local player Prajwal will take on compatriot Vishnu Vardhan in the next round of the $25,000 tournament.

The biggest upset of the day came from Britain's unseeded George Lofhagen. World No. 182 Lofhagen defeated top-ranked Nam Hoang Ly of Vietnam 6-3, 6-4. America's second seed Oliver Crawford beat wild card Manish Ganesh of India. 6-1 6-3, while Ukraine's Oriov Vladislav defeated India's Niki Poonacha 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Eighth seed Alice Blake booked her place in the next round after Indian qualifier Siddharth Vishwakarma went down 2-0 in the first set.

In another match, third seed Evgeny Donskoy booked his place in the semi-finals by defeating India's Karan Singh 7-5, 6-2, reports said. Ukraine's 7th-ranked Eric Vanschelboim upset fourth-seeded compatriot Vladislav Orlov 6-4, 6-2 to seal his berth in the semi-finals.
