New Delhi: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has criticized international media. Javadekar accuses the international media of spreading misleading news about Kashmir. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said, the ruling BJP-led NDA government at the Centre is committed to media freedom and reminded of the emergency in 1975 as to how party leaders fought for the freedom of the media.

He said continuous restrictions are being lifted in Kashmir. Javadekar said that more than one lakh publications, more than 700 TV channels, web and news portals as well as social platforms have not been stopped. All the media mediums are communicating. It is the power of communication. He said that during the student agitation, during the Emergency in 1975, we fought for the freedom of the media and went to jail.

Our commitment is the same even today and will continue to be the same. Speaking at an event on 'New India Government and Media' at the Media Conclave, Javadekar said the government is not afraid of criticizing the media but welcomes it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event through video conferencing. Javadekar said that restrictions are being lifted in Kashmir every day. The Government stands firmly with the people of Kashmir. This decision has been taken in their interest.
