Chota Shakeel's brother-in-law likely to contest Maharashtra elections

Mumbai: Salim Qureshi alias Salim Fruit, a close relative of underworld don Chhota Shakeel, may try his luck in Assembly election in Mumbai. There are several cases registered under MCOCA against him. Salim Mankhurd can fill his candidature in the election from Shivaji Nagar Assembly seat. The seat is currently being contested by Abu Azmi of the Samajwadi Party (SP). He has won the last two elections from here.

In an exclusive interview to the media, Qureshi said, "I plan to contest elections, there are several other interested candidates too". When asked if he has sought a ticket from Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM, he said, "Yes, a lot of other people are also trying and the tickets are yet to be decided, pray something good happens from there."

Qureshi's posters were seen in the areas of Shivaji Nagar, Govandi, Mankhurd during Eid-ul-Azha. Local residents said Qureshi is preparing to contest the assembly elections. During Eid, video messages of Qureshi were spread among local residents by supporters in Govandi, Mankhurd and Shivaji Nagar. When questioned about the previous criminal record, Qureshi said, "Now everything is clear, our country is democratic and I have been living a normal life for the past decade. She confirmed her relationship with Chhota Shakeel.
