Amid the Corona transition, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that special trains should not be allowed to stop in the state. Giving the reasoning behind this, he said that there are more than 50 percent outsiders in booking special trains for Goa. In such a situation, the risk of corona infection in the state is increased. Along with this, he said that the state government will write a letter to the Ministry of Railways to avoid the process of stopping the trains in Goa. He said that not a single case has been registered in Goa for a whole month, but now 8 new positive cases have come up in Goa and all these cases are cases of people from outside.
In his statement, the CM said that the train going to Thiruvananthapuram in the state today i.e. on May 15, should not be allowed to stop in Madgaon. He said that 720 people have booked tickets for Goa and we have come to know that hardly any of them are Goans. Further, the CM said that we will have to examine such people on landing in Goa and if we advise them to isolate at home then they do not think they will follow their orders. This is the reason why I have suggested to the Railways not to stop the train at Madgaon station.
Goa was the first state in India which was made Corona free, but now again this state has come under the supervision of Corona. All the people in the state have been advised to take precaution. The third phase of the corona virus lockdown is going on in the whole country. This lockdown will run on 17 May. Due to this lockdown, all the people have been imprisoned in their homes. Emphasis is being laid on maintaining social distancing to all people.
