TAIPEI OPEN BADMINTON:The team from HS has moved over their semifinal defeat in Indonesia. At the Taipei Open badminton competition, which gets underway here on Tuesday, Prannoy will try to maintain his strong play.

The third-seeded world No. 9 Prannoy will play a qualifier in the men's singles opening round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 competition. Prannoy, who won the Malaysia Masters Super 300 championship last month, put on a strong performance in the Indonesia Open, a Super 1000 competition, reaching the semifinals before falling to eventual champion and world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen of Denmark 15-21, 15-21.Prannoy would be driven to recover from that setback.

Meiraba Luwang Maisnam, who is competing against Hong Kong's fifth-seeded Angus Ng Ka Long, Kiran George, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran, Mithun Manjunath, and S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian are the other Indians in the men's singles tournament. Both Subhankar Dey and Parupalli Kashyap must pass the qualifying rounds. In men's singles, Kodai Naraoka is the top seed.
