Patna: Poll strategist Prashant Kishor took a sharp jab at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday, questioning the former Deputy Chief Minister’s credibility in discussing Bihar's development and law and order situation. Kishor dismissed Yadav’s comments on Bihar’s progress during the RJD’s 15-year rule from 1990 to 2005 as "laughable."

Speaking to reporters, Kishor criticized Yadav for what he perceived as a disconnect between his claims and the reality of Bihar’s law and order. "It’s laughable that Tejashwi Yadav is discussing development when he and his party ruled Bihar for 15 years. They seem to have little understanding of what GDP and economic growth are," Kishor said.

He added that Yadav’s portrayal of Bihar’s crime situation was inconsistent. "When Tejashwi Yadav was Deputy Chief Minister just six months ago, Bihar was like Switzerland for him. Now, it’s suddenly a gutter. If Nitish Kumar joins the Mahagathbandhan, Bihar will again seem great to him," Kishor remarked.

Earlier, on August 22, Tejashwi Yadav had criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of presiding over a state plagued by crime and corruption. Yadav described the current administration as a “demon’s rule” and criticized Kumar for being unable to address the state's security issues. “Nitish Kumar has become the Bhishma Pitamah of corruption and cannot see the rampant crime,” Yadav had said.

In other news, Kishor announced that his new political party, Jan Suraaj, will field 40 women candidates in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Kishor revealed that by 2030, the party aims to have 70 to 80 female leaders, emphasizing the importance of women’s economic independence. "Women’s equal participation is essential for their economic independence. We will ensure women get loans at 4 percent interest for their livelihoods, backed by government guarantees," he stated.

Kishor urged voters to evaluate candidates based on their potential and policies rather than their family connections. “When our government is formed, people won’t have to migrate for better opportunities. Vote not just for leaders’ sons or daughters, but for their potential contributions,” he added.

The Bihar Assembly elections, covering 243 seats, are expected to be held in late 2025.
