Preparing to evacuate Indians trapped in violence-hit Sudan, PM Modi gave these instructions to officials

New Delhi: Amidst the prevailing insecurity in Sudan, PM Narendra Modi on Friday directed the authorities to prepare a plan for the safe evacuation of around 3,000 Indian nationals stranded in the conflict-torn country. PM Narendra Modi on Friday (April 21) held a review meeting of the security situation in Sudan through video conferencing. In the midst of the 72-hour ceasefire announced in Sudan before Eid, the Prime Minister has given instructions to prepare a plan to evacuate Indian citizens and take them to a safe place.

The high-level meeting, led by PM Modi, was attended by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Navy and Air Force chiefs, India's Ambassador to Sudan, and several other senior officials. During the meeting, PM Modi took stock of the recent developments in Sudan. Also took a report on the security and ground situation of over 3,000 Indian nationals staying there.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has said in its statement that during the meeting, PM Modi asked the officials to work on the plan to evacuate Indians from Sudan, the rapidly changing security scenario, and various options. The Prime Minister directed all concerned authorities to remain alert, closely monitor the situation, continuously assess the security of Indian nationals in Sudan, and provide all possible assistance.
