President Kovind and his wife 'harassed, misbehaved with’ during Jagannath Temple visit

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife Savita Kovind were ‘misbehaved with’ during their tour to Jagannath Temple in Odisha on March 18.

The Puri district administration has started a probe into the shocking incident. This was occureed three months before. According to the report of The Times of India some servitors had blocked the path of the President near the holy place. The group had also pushed the First Lady, as per the minutes of talks occurred by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on March 20.

On a related note, The SJTA meeting had come a day after the Rashtrapati Bhavan issued a strong note to Puri collector Aravind Agarwal. The note was about the lodging protest against the conduct of servitors.

Worth mention here The incident was confirmed by SJTA chief administrator, IAS officer Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.

However Mohapatra, turned down to explain further.

“We discussed the matter at a meeting of the temple managing committee a few days ago. It is being investigated,” he said.

It should be noted that On March 18, devotees were not permitted inside the temple between 6.35 am- 8.40 am so that the President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife could have a hassle-free darshan.

The report also added that only a few government officers and servitors were allowed inside the temple to go together with Kovind and his wife.
