Hydrabad: President Ram Nath Kovind returned to Delhi on Monday after a visit to Hyderabad, where he attended the 11th century saint Sri Ramanujacharya's millennium birth anniversary celebrations.

A hearty welcome was given to Kovind at the Begumpet airport here by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, her Haryana counterpart Bandaru Dattatreya, and several state government officials, according to a Raj Bhavan news release.

On Sunday, Kovind attended Sri Ramanujacharya's 1,000th birth anniversary celebrations and unveiled the saint's golden deity. The President, speaking on the occasion, stated that saint-poets and philosophers like as Sri Ramanujacharya have built and fostered the country's cultural identity, continuity, and unity.

On February 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 216-foot Ramanujacharya statue in Muchintal, on the outskirts of the city.

Sri Ramanujacharya, who preached equality in all aspects of life, including faith, caste, and creed, is commemorated with the 'Statue of Equality.'

The statue's unveiling is part of the 12-day 'Ramanuja Sahasrabdi Samaroham,' Sri Ramanujacharya's 1,000th birth anniversary celebrations, which began on February 2.
