While the federal and state governments are taking steps to promote digital learning, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu highlighted the importance of ensuring that there is no digital divide.

To achieve this, he called for improved internet connectivity, particularly in rural and distant locations, as well as a commitment to "maintain diversity at the centre of the educational experience." 'Embrace, engage, enlighten, and empower' should be the mantra.

In a speech to the public after the the opening of the Sports Centre at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) in Chennai today, Naidu expressed concern about the pandemic's impact on education, saying that school closures disproportionately impacted girls, children from low-income families, those living in rural areas, children with disabilities, and children from ethnic minorities.

The Vice President also launched the NITTTR Open Educational Resource (OER) on this occasion. He described it as a significant step toward increasing inclusivity through online education, noting that it would assist teachers in expanding their knowledge base and teaching methods. In his call for governments to take corrective action, Naidu said that one of the most significant steps would be to improve teachers' e-learning skills.
