NEW DELHI: Yashwant Sinha, the presidential candidate for the opposition, will submit his nomination papers for the July 18 poll on Monday. Sinha would be accompanied by the Leader of the opposition party.
The TRS declared its support for Sinha in the meantime. Nama Nageswara Rao, the leader of the TRS on the House floor, and other members would reportedly be present for Sinha's nomination, said the source. Yashwant Sinha will pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R Ambedkar.
He will start his campaign by meeting with MPs and MLAs. Sinha called the offices of Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to ask for their support for the election. He also sent letters to all of the opposing party chiefs.
Sinha stated in the letter: "India is going through a very challenging phase. I will speak up on behalf of the common people." The other ideology's leaders are devoted to stifling the Constitution and "making a farce of the people's mandate in elections." Sinha said, "I want to thank them for picking me to be their presidential candidate in the 2022 election. I'm truly honoured. Our sincere promise, oath, and commitment are to uphold the Constitution." In presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J.P. Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and leaders of the alliance partners, Droupdai Murmu, the candidate for the BJP-led NDA, filed his nomination last week.
