Hyderabad : Some private schools in Telangana have violated government orders in charging fees. The Department of Education has sought a response from the school management in this regard. Schools have come forward to refund or adjust the additional fees charged for the 2020-21 academic session on the initiative of the Directorate of School Education. The school management has expressed willingness during an ongoing personal inquiry with 10 private schools. Each student was asked by the management to submit the fees as per the details and to submit the accounts of the fees collected for the year 2020-2021 accordingly.

When asked what can be done on the issuance of fees, he expressed his desire to adjust the additional fees charged during the current academic year or to refund the fees for the remaining months. A senior official said he was asked to do so by the end of January and inform parents.

In view of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Telangana government has directed all private schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, ICSE and other international boards not to increase fees in the 2020-21 academic year. He was instructed to charge tuition fees only on a monthly basis until further orders.

However, many parents have complained to the school education department about the increase in fees at some schools. Sports, library, tuition fees, etc. are deposited by some schools. Schools do not provide sports and library facilities. Some parents have approached the High Court on the matter.

Following the complaints, the department issued a notice to the schools and then set up a committee to investigate the matter and found that 10 schools were violating government orders on fees. A similar report was also submitted to the High Court. Of the ten schools, two schools have not yet agreed to refund or adjust the additional fees, education officials say. If they adhere to their attitude, then we will take action according to the rules.
