Lucknow: Congress Party National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday attacked the Central government for allegedly slow pace of anti-corona vaccination in the country, accusing it of making the vaccine a means of personal publicity for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is why India, the world's largest vaccine maker, today relies on donations of vaccines by other countries.

Priyanka also questioned why these situations arose when the government had prepared a complete immunization plan last year, according to the PM, in a Facebook post under her 'Who is responsible?' series of questions to the government. Priyanka said, "On August 15 last year, Modiji said in a speech from the Red Fort that his government has made a complete plan for vaccination. Given india's history of vaccine production and the vastness of vaccine programmes, it was easy to believe that the Modi government would do it better.

According to Priyanka, "The reason for the belief was that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru gave a height to India's vaccine programme by setting up a vaccine unit in Chennai in 1948 and the National Institute of Virology (Pune) in 1952. We successfully overcame diseases like chickenpox, polio, etc. Later, India started exporting vaccine to the world and today it is the world's largest vaccine producer".
