Chennai: M. K. Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, claimed on Wednesday that many states in the nation are trying to imitate the development plans of the DMK government. However, some political parties in the state have criticised the govt for allegedly failing to carry out the party's election promises.

Stalin said he was happy to hear Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and President Droupadi Murmu appreciating the schemes being implemented in Tamil Nadu and the state's overall success when the former saw them recently in Delhi. The event saw over one lakh recipients get welfare measures.

Stalin remarked that some parties in Tamil Nadu consistently strive to disparage the programmes that are being accepted and praised by the people of the state, in an apparent reference to the main opposition AIADMK. He said,  this was nothing more than the exasperation of the party, which had been dealing with significant internal issues.
At the event, the chief minister unveiled 229 completed initiatives worth Rs 272 crore and lay the groundwork for 748 projects worth Rs 663 crore. He provided specifics on the projects and programmes that were carried out over the previous 15 months in order to help Coimbatore, a significant industrial hub in south India.

The CM said, the government has moved to expand the city's international airport and the study for the eagerly anticipated metro rail project is complete.

''I need the appreciation from the people. The faces of those who have gathered here reflect the result of future elections,'' the CA said.

Stalin, who is also the head of the DMK, said he had learned from criticism and would not permit anyone to cause trouble in Tamil Nadu, adding that individuals without "self-respect" were attacking the government for standing up for the SC/ST and other marginalised and oppressed populations.
