BENGALURU: In connection with the Police Sub-inspector (PSI) recruiting scam in Karnataka, which is now being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a Deputy Superintendent of Police (SP) has been arrested.

With the arrest of Deputy SP Shantakumar, the number of arrests in the police department's Recruitment Division has risen to five, according to CID sources. According to the sources, the Department is now collecting information on ADGP-ranked officials based on the Shantakumar's information.  They also disclosed that this will lead to top officials, bureaucrats, and politicians implicated in the scam being investigated.

Following the revelation of the fraud, candidates and intermediaries were arrested, and the role of the Recruitment Division was revealed.

ADGP (Recruitment) Amrit Paul and DySP Shantakumar have been transferred by the government.  DySP Shantakumar's role in the case has been revealed by the four accused officers. CID was on the lookout for proof against him.

Shantakumar worked in the Recruitment Division for 13 years, according to investigations. According to accounts, he also had the division under his grip with the help of senior commanders. Shantakumar is facing significant charges that he used middlemen to approach hopeful individuals for SI positions. According to accounts, he earned lakhs of rupees from them and shared it with high officers.
