Lucknow: Recently, in the first quarter of this year, there were frauds of more than Rs 31800 crore in public sector banks. Among the banks that have suffered the most, State Bank of India and Allahabad Bank are the main ones. Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur gave this information in Rajya Sabha.

1197 fraud cases in SBI:


Minister of State for Finance said that in the first quarter of the financial year, only State Bank has registered 1197 cases of fraud. Due to this, the bank has a loss of about Rs 12,012.79 crore. In the second place was Allahabad Bank, in which 381 cases were filed. The bank suffered a loss of Rs 2855.46 crore. The third place was the Central Bank of India, in which 194 cases were filed. The bank incurred a loss of Rs 1982.27 crore.

The Minister of State for Finance said that Punjab National Bank was in fourth place, which filed 99 cases of fraud. This caused a loss of about Rs 2526.55 crore to the bank. At the fifth place was Bank of Maharashtra, which registered 85 cases of fraud. The bank suffered a loss of Rs 253.43 crore.

According to information received from the sources, the state-owned banks of the country have filed complaints of scams worth a total of Rs 958 billion between April and September this year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave this information in response to a question in the Upper House of Parliament on Tuesday. The Finance Minister told the Rajya Sabha that 5743 complaints of scams and frauds were filed by state-run banks in this interval of six months, out of which most of the cases are of disturbances in the past years. According to the Finance Minister, there has been a scam of 25 billion rupees in 1000 cases this year.
