Puducherry: The number of infected people has increased to 1,18,087 due to 128 new cases of corona infection in Puducherry in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, a patient has lost his life due to infection. A senior official of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services has informed in this regard. Health Department Director S. Mohan Kumar said that the number of patients undergoing treatment in the Union Territory is less than 2,000 and 262 people have recovered.
The death toll due to infection in the last 24 hours has risen to 1,762. He said the 89-year-old infected person also had serious diseases like diabetes and hypertension. He said that in the new cases of infection, 101 cases were reported from Puducherry, 7 from Karaikal, 3 from Yanam and 17 from Mahe. As of 10 a.m. on Monday, 262 patients have been infection-free during the last 24 hours and 1,14,454 patients have recovered so far. Mohan Kumar said that total of 13,47,419 samples have been tested so far and 11,57,006 samples have not been confirmed. 5,597 samples of new cases were tested.
The official said the infection rate is 2.29 percent while the mortality and recovery rate is 1.49 percent and 96.92 percent respectively. The director of the health department said that 37,387 health workers and 22,917 advance front personnel have been vaccinated. More than 45 years of age and 3.94 lakh people in the category of senior citizens have been vaccinated.
