Chandigarh: A budget of one lakh 68 thousand 15 crore was presented for the financial year 2021-22 in the Punjab Legislative Assembly today, in which a provision has been made to waive loans of Rs. Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal has also announced to increase the pension of the elderly from Rs 750 to Rs 1,500 a month while presenting the budget of 2021-22 in the Vidhan Sabha.
Along with this, he has also proposed to increase the amount given under the Shagun scheme from Rs 21 thousand to Rs 51,000. Badal said that in the next phase of crop loan waiver scheme, the state government will waive crop loans of 1.13 lakh farmers for Rs. 1,186 crore and landless farmers for Rs. 526 crore. This is the last budget of the current tenure of the Amarinder Singh government of the state. Assembly elections are proposed in the state in the early months of next year.
