Amritsar: Government employees in Punjab are yet to receive their salaries for the month of August. There is talk in the corridors of power that the Bhagwant Mann government in the state is facing a shortage of funds and the government does not even have money to pay salaries to the employees.

According to the report, usually, government employees get their salary on the 1st of every month, but even after six days, the salary of the employees has not been paid for the previous month. Earlier in the current financial year, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government in Punjab was given Rs 16,000 crore by the central government as GST share.

According to the report, the state government has been paid GST shares for the first quarter of this financial year and after that, the GST regime was abolished in the month of June. This is the reason why the earnings of the state government have almost stopped and there has been a shortage of funds. Officials say that since the Bhagwant Mann government came to power in March, the salaries of the employees were coming on time and there was no problem, but this is the first time that the salaries of the employees are being delayed. It has been only 5 months since Bhagwant Mann's government was formed in Punjab.
