Chandigarh: The Punjab cabinet has decided to set up the Punjab Jail Development Board on the lines of Telangana on Wednesday, 26 February 2020. At the same time, in order to have a constructive effect on the inmates, they are going to be included in profitable economic activities, which will also prove helpful in reducing the crime in the jails. On this, the spokesperson said that this step will help in generating revenue by involving inmates in various activities carried out by the board, with the aim of reducing the crimes in the jails. The board will be headed by the CM and the Jail Minister will be the Senior Vice Chairperson of this Board and the Additional Chief Secretary / Principal Secretary / Secretary of the Jail Department will be its Deputy Chairperson.
