Amritsar: The party's internal politics continues to be in turmoil even after the screw in the name of the CM in the Punjab Congress was resolved. Punjab's new CM has already been selected from the Sidhu camp and now the exercise is on to completely remove Captain Amarinder Singh's team from the government. Both deputy CM and state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu was said to be present along with CM Channi on the charter aircraft. Many faces of the captain's old cabinet are set to be kept away from Channi's new cabinet. It is being reported that 5 new faces could be made ministers in Charanjeet Singh Channi's cabinet, in which case the captain group leaders may lose their ministerial berths. However, there are speculations that Captain's confidants Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot may continue as ministers. Sodhi was the sports minister in the cabinet led by Captain Amarinder Singh while Dharamsot was the social justice minister.

Punjab CM Charanjeet Singh Channi, both deputy CM and state Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu discussed the expansion of the state cabinet along with the party's top leadership at congress leader Venugopal's residence. The meeting lasted for an hour. After the meeting, Punjab Congress in charge Rawat said that everything is right in the state, the new cabinet will be announced soon. However, he did not say anything about the new faces of the cabinet.
