Punjab: As per the Punjab Information and Public Relations Department, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab announced on Saturday that every home will receive 300 units of free power starting July 1.

The statement came on the one-month anniversary of Bhagwant Mann's government taking office. "We will offer good news to the people of Punjab on the 16th," Punjab Chief Minister stated.

Bhagwant Mann met with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday to discuss the concept of supplying free electricity to Punjab residents and said in a press conference that the State government could make a major announcement shortly.

One of the primary promises made by AAP in Punjab during the Assembly elections last month was to provide free power to every family for up to 300 units.  The AAP government in Delhi gives residents 200 free units of power.

Mann had already launched a doorstep ration distribution scheme in the state last month, which was also a main campaign issue for the AAP in the elections.
