Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday lashed out at the BJP-led central government and the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP)-led Punjab government. Badal accused the central government of wanting to control the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) like the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. He said the Centre is resorting to different tactics for this.
During the first political conference after the crushing defeat in the Punjab elections, Sukhbir Badal also took a dig at the AAP. He alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had gone to Damdama sahib under the influence of alcohol to offer prayers. Badal said this is not the first time That Mann has done this type of work. He has been drunk at this holy place before. Hitting out at the Centre, Sukhbir Badal said in Talwandi Sabo, "A month ago, the Centre had taken over the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee through various secret ways. Now their target is the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), which was created 100 years ago by our forefathers by making many sacrifices.''
Sukhbir Badal said that the central government feels that the Khalsa Panth will not be able to do anything again. But we won't let them succeed. There may be some shortcomings in me or in our senior leader Sikander Singh Maluka and others also, but there is no shortage in Akali Dal. It's your own home, it's a community heritage. We won't let them dominate us.
