Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal President (SAD) Sukhbir Singh Badal and the entire core committee of the party have been arrested by chandigarh police who arrived outside the Punjab chief minister's residence to make arrests. The men had arrived there to make symbolic arrests and Sukhbir Badal said that under pressure from Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi and Punjab Police were conspiring to implicate and arrest Akali Dal leaders in drug smuggling cases and guru granth sahib's atrocities cases.
Sukhbir Badal further said that if akali dal leaders have to be arrested, they themselves come to the Punjab government and give their arrests outside the chief minister's residence. However, outside the Punjab CM House, the leaders were barricaded and stopped by the Chandigarh police and arrested and taken to the local police station.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal is reportedly afraid that punjab police may arrest Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia due to pressure from Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu in the drug smuggling case.
