Chandigarh: In Mohali, Punjab, two gangsters were apprehended in a recent encounter, with one of them sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg as he opened fire while attempting to escape. Both individuals are accused of firing outside the residence of a Congress leader in Kurali, and they are believed to be associated with gangster Prince Chauhan.

The incident follows another encounter on Wednesday, where a gangster, Amritpal Singh, was killed by the Punjab Police during an attempt to escape in Amritsar's Jandiala Guru area. Singh, aged 22, had been arrested the previous day and was taken to Jandiala Guru for the recovery of two kilograms of heroin. During the operation, Singh, in handcuffs, fired at the police team with a concealed pistol and attempted to flee.

The Punjab Police have initiated a significant crackdown on gangsters, leading to at least 10 encounters in the last two weeks. The recent encounters highlight the intensified efforts of law enforcement to tackle criminal activities and maintain public safety in the region.
