The Punjab Union High Court has challenged the decision of the State Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) of India to abolish 435 posts through promotion. The decision of abolishing the special allowance has been challenged in the board meeting of May 15. The High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab Government and the Board of Education and summoned the reply.

Apart from this, the petitioners association told the High Court that in the meeting held on May 15, it was decided to abolish 435 posts even though this topic was not included in the agenda of the meeting and it was kept as table agenda. The petitioner said that if these posts are abolished, the right of the promotion will be taken away from many employees.

The petitioner said that even if the posts are vacant as per the rules, they cannot be terminated. Along with this, it was also informed that the Punjab government has given Rs 334 crore to the board. In such a situation, there is no financial crisis in front of the board. The decision to abolish the special allowance was taken without hearing the favour of the employees, which is not right in the eyes of the law. The High Court, after hearing the petitioner's favour, has issued a notice to the Punjab Government and the School Education Board, calling for a reply. The High Court said that a decision will be taken after hearing the side of the Punjab government and the board on the next hearing to stay the order.
