
NEW DELHI: Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, has arrived in India for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is his second visit to India, the last one being in March 2015.
On Tuesday (February 18, 2025) morning at 10.30 a.m., the Emir will receive a grand ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, top officials, and business leaders.
At 12 pm, he will meet PM Modi at Hyderabad House for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening India-Qatar relations. They will talk about key areas of cooperation and mutual interest. Following this, at 1.00 pm., both sides will sign agreements (Memoranda of Understanding or MoUs) to boost their partnership even further.
In the evening, at 7:00 p.m., Sheikh Tamim will meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan before departing from India at 9:05 p.m.
PM Modi personally welcomed Sheikh Tamim at Palam Air Force Station on Monday evening, in a warm and friendly gesture. The two leaders shared a heartfelt embrace, highlighting the strong friendship between India and Qatar.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared on social media: “A special gesture for a special friend! PM Modi welcomed HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, at the airport as he arrived in New Delhi for his second state visit to India. The visit will further strengthen the bonds of the India-Qatar partnership.”
Ministry of External Affairs also stated that this visit will give "more momentum" to the growing partnership between the two nations. During his stay, the Emir will also meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and other senior officials.
His visit is expected to open new doors for collaboration in business, diplomacy, and other key sectors, further strengthening India-Qatar ties.
