Former Team India captain Rahul Dravid believes that the current captain Virat Kohli has understood that his real respect as a cricketer will be done when he achieves success in Test cricket. Dravid is known as 'Wall' and 'Mr. Trustworthy' of Team India. Dravid said that watching batting in Test cricket has become more interesting than ever because batsmen are now playing more aggressive shots. Virat has earned a lot of name in Test cricket, he has set an example in front of the world by his batting as well as his captaincy.

During the videocast with Sanjay Manjrekar on Cricinfo, Dravid said, "I think batting in Test has become more interesting now than before. Test batsmen have started playing aggressively, players are playing shots and it is nice to see. The good thing for India is that Virat Kohli gives value to Test cricket, he understands that his real respect as a cricketer will be from achieving success in Test cricket. He also said that defensive batting has no meaning, but now players can make a successful career without good defensive techniques.

He further said, "I don't think it means anything now, defensive batting is no longer the same as it used to be in our time. I think you still have to defend your wicket to score runs, I think now you can move forward without good defensive technique in cricket." He further said, "Today, it is not necessary that you need a good test career for a successful career, today look at the world's best cricketers, some have good defensive techniques and they can play in difficult times." Dravid said that all young cricketers want to play in all three formats of cricket early in their careers, but over time they become practical. He said, "Whenever I talk to a young cricketer, their hero is a cricketer who has achieved success in all three formats, but then they thinks realistically about their career, the superstars of this game still Want to play in all three formats."

Dravid is the only cricketer who has been involved in 300+ ODI international partnerships twice. He has played 164 Test matches, 344 ODIs and one T20 International for India. Dravid had retired from international cricket in March 2012. Dravid has been the coach of the Under-19 and India-A team. He is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Under Dravid's captaincy, India won the first Test series in England.
