New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other senior leaders on Saturday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary. Several other Congress leaders visited 'Veer Bhoomi' and paid homage at Rajiv Gandhi's samadhi. Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra was also present on the occasion.

Remembering his father, Rahul Gandhi wrote in a tweet, 'Papa, you are with me, in my heart every moment. I will always try that I can fulfil the dream you dreamed for the country.' Rahul Gandhi said that my father Shri Rajiv Gandhi had laid the blueprint of 21st century India in front of the country. An India in which the power of the youth, the power of the villages, the power of women, and the use of new technology find expression.

Recalling her father's contribution to the development of the country, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote in a Facebook post, "Steps like information revolution, communication revolution, Panchayati raj, right to vote in 18 years were steps to strengthen this expression. Father's dream was to take India to the highest level in the 21st century. He worked day and night with that dream and gave a new direction to India.''
