New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi highlighted the inspiring story of Moddys Chocolates, a renowned chocolate factory in Ooty run by a team of 70 remarkable women. Through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Gandhi praised the entrepreneurial spirit of Muralidhar Rao and Swati, the couple behind the celebrated brand. He emphasized that such micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) hold immense potential for India's growth and advocated for creating industrial hubs and implementing a uniform GST rate to bolster their prospects.

Sharing a video of his visit to the chocolate-making factory, Gandhi acknowledged the dedication of the women-led team. During his visit, he interacted with the staff and even tried his hand at chocolate-making. He expressed the view that these women-led teams deserve comprehensive support. Gandhi, who had visited the factory during his journey to his parliamentary constituency Wayanad, lauded the exceptional craftsmanship of the Moddys Chocolates team. He remarked that their dedication yields some of the most exquisite couverture chocolates he has tasted.

While celebrating the success of Moddys Chocolates, Gandhi also shed light on the challenges faced by small and medium-scale businesses across India. He criticized the burden of what he referred to as the "Gabbar Singh Tax," alluding to the complexities and issues surrounding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. In conclusion, Gandhi's post highlighted the inspiring journey of Moddys Chocolates and underscored the significance of nurturing and supporting MSMEs as integral drivers of India's economic growth.
