NEW DELHI: Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday paid tributes to their departed father Rajiv Gandhi on his 78th birth anniversary at the Veer Bhumi in New Delhi Today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary. “On his birth anniversary, tributes to our former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi,” the prime minister tweeted. 

In a tweet , Rahul Gandhi said: "Papa you are with me every time in my heart, I will always try to fulfill the dreams for India you have cherished." 

Also,   the Congress party tweeted as follos: "On the anniversary of his birth, we remember Rajiv Gandhi, the former prime minister of India, with affection. His keen insight was credited with being the "architect of 21st century India," ushering in the IT and telecom revolution in India. We honour his legacy now." The Youth Congress will host a celebration at the Talkatora Stadium to honour the late prime minister's accomplishments.

IYC President Srinivas B.V. said: "Rajiv Gandhi was the architect of modern India, who worked towards making a strong and self-reliant India. India is still reaping the benefits of his vision. It was his foresight that has put India in the ranks of strong, modern nations." The party's youth wing called Rajiv Gandhi the "father of information technology and telecommunication revolution".
