Amritsar: Bharat Jodo Yatra of Congress has entered Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab. Former Congress President and current Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi paid obeisance at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib before starting his journey on the soil of Punjab. Earlier on Tuesday (January 10), Rahul Gandhi went to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib carries great importance in Sikh history. It reminds us of the bravery of the 2 youngest sons of Tenth Guru Gobind Singh.

Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, the two youngest sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, were encased in the living wall on the orders of Wazir Khan, the Mughal Faujdar of Sirhind because the fearless sons refused to renounce their religion and become Muslims. At that time Zorawar Singh was only nine years old and Fateh Singh was only seven years old. When both the sons were buried alive in the boundary wall, at that time their grandmother Mata Gujri died of shock.

Before the execution of both sons by the Mughals, their brothers and their grandmother were held captive in Thanda Burj in the fort of Faujdar in the cold month of December. For several days they were threatened with death that they would be killed if they did not accept Islam, but the family of Shri Guru Gobind Singh did not give up their religion. Today the Gurudwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib stands at the same place where both the elder sons were hanged on December 12, 1705. Every year a religious fair 'Jor Mela' is organized at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib in the memory of sons and Mata Gujri from 25-28 December, in which lakhs of devotees participate.

BJP has spoiled the atmosphere of the country - Rahul Gandhi

On the other hand, former Congress President in Punjab Rahul Gandhi while attacking BJP said that BJP is trying to fight one caste with another, one language with another, and has spoiled the atmosphere of the country. We thought that the country should be shown the path of love, unity, and brotherhood. That's why we started this journey. However, during this time Rahul Gandhi did not comment on the brutality meted out to the Gurus and their families by the Mughals .
