New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, will meet with the fishermen community in Goa today (October 30), ahead of the Goa Assembly elections. Gandhi will also meet with state-based party members. "Rahul Gandhi will be in Goa tomorrow to interact with citizens and Congress workers," the Congress party said in a series of tweets on Friday.

"Rahul Gandhi is arriving to Goa tomorrow,  It is the first time that a national leader is coming to meet the fishermen. We have several issues. We will present a memorandum to Rahul Gandhi - a fisherman from Goa eagerly awaits Rahul ji," tweeted the party and attached a short video of a fisherman speaking the on the same.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and the leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, visited Goa yesterday and met with party workers and fishermen. Girish Chodankar, president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), announced his visit during a press conference on Wednesday.

The Goa Assembly has 40 members, of which the BJP currently has 17 and is supported by legislators from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Goa Forward Party (GFPVijay )'s Sardesai, and three independents. Both GFP and MGP have three MLAs.
