Government raised 11,500 crores from strategic sales of these power companies

The Government of India has raised Rs 11,500 crore for NTPC through strategic sales of two state-run power companies, THDC and NEEPCO.

The government has sold 74.49 per cent stake in THDC for Rs 7,500 crore, while 100 per cent stake in NEEPCO for Rs 4,000 crore. With this, the total disinvestment in the current financial year has been more than Rs 46,500 crore. Similarly, the revised estimates had pegged disinvestment receipts at Rs 65,000 crore in the current financial year.

In a tweet, DIPAM secretary said that DIPAM has completed two more strategic disinvestment transactions. He said that 74.49 per cent stake in THDC has been sold for NTPC for Rs 7,500 crore and 100 per cent stake in NEEPCO for Rs 4,000 crore.
