Jaipur: The confrontation between CM Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan is deepening day by day. CM Gehlot on Thursday called Sachin Pilot a traitor. This is Gehlot's biggest attack on senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot in recent times. For some time, Gehlot was avoiding answering questions related to Sachin Pilot directly. Calling Pilot a traitor, Gehlot said he would never be able to become CM.

According to the report, CM Gehlot said 'A traitor can never become CM. The high command cannot make Sachin Pilot the CM,  a man who does not even have 10 MLAs. He betrayed Congress, he (Sachin Pilot) is a traitor.' He further said that this was the first time in India that a party chief tried to topple his own government. Gehlot claimed that the BJP had funded that rebellion (2020) and many veteran BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, were behind it.

In mid-2020, Pilot rebelled along with 19 of his supporting MLAs. They had reached a five-star hotel near Delhi. Pilot had given a direct challenge to the Congress high command. In fact, according to sources, Sachin Pilot wanted to become CM since Congress won the Rajasthan elections in 2018, but Gehlot had won at that time. Pilot had to be satisfied with the deputy chief minister's post. Pilot was removed as deputy chief minister and Congress state president following a rebellion in 2020.
